Volunteering at the Montana Dinosaur Center
Volunteers play a critical role in advancing our mission to provide hands-on education, support field research, and share Montana’s paleontological heritage with the public. If you want to contribute to that work and stay connected to natural history, we welcome your involvement.
Why Volunteer
As a nonprofit, the Montana Dinosaur Center depends on volunteer support to sustain public programs and behind-the-scenes work. Volunteers help extend our capacity, and in return gain experience, develop skills, and work alongside others who share an interest in science and education.
Ways to Contribute
Volunteer roles vary by season and organizational need. Opportunities may include:
- Assisting visitors in the museum as a docent
- Supporting fossil preparation and basic lab tasks (training required)
- Helping with events, administrative projects, and educational programs
Volunteers set their own schedules, with a typical commitment of at least 10 hours per month from June through August.
Projects & Seasonal Opportunities
At times, additional projects become available, such as helping with fieldwork logistics, community outreach, or special initiatives. These roles offer practical experience and exposure to the work that supports active paleontological research and public education.
Impact
Every volunteer strengthens our ability to preserve, interpret, and share Montana’s fossil record. Your contribution helps ensure that this history remains accessible and meaningful to visitors, students, and researchers.
